Sex Ed Classes Lacking!
In today's News & Observer, Amy Gardner has a very informative and timely report on the recently published "State of Adolescent Sexual Health In North Carolina" and 2004 NC Parent Opinion Survey.
In it she writes, Howard Lee, chairman of the State Board of Education, said he has not looked closely at the survey, which was mailed to the board last month. He said he will talk to the rest of the board to gauge interest in taking a closer look at the board's sex ed policy.
Lee said he is not aware of strong support across the state for broader parameters. The few phone calls and e-mail messages that he has received, Lee said, have come from parents complaining of teachers going too far in sex ed.
These statements from Sen. Lee illustrate how important is for concerned parents across the State to contact the State School Board and let them know of your support for a comprehensive curriculum.
