Ellen Goodman had an excellent article in the News & Observer today. She responds to the Democratic Party's soul searching on choice, Sen. Clinton's speech and comments from folks in the media and Congress.
Ms. Goodman points out that those of us in the reproductive rights movement have been talking about preventing unwanted pregnancies for years. This can be done, in part, through responsible sex education and access to contraception.
However, Pres. Bush's FDA is blocking emergency contraception from going over the counter and is promoting failed abstinence programs.
We've been trying and now it is time for the those who disagree with a woman's right to choose, to meet us at the table for good health policy that promotes prevention.
