Raft By Refusing to Sell Emergency Contraception, the Rite Aid on 8841 Six Forks Rd. is Sending Women Up a Creek sign our petition to get this Rite Aid to stock by clicking here.

Emergency contraception has been available to women ages 18 and older without a prescription for more than a year, and it can help women prevent unintended pregnancies. Most pharmacies, including other Rite Aids, sell it. So why is the Rite Aid pharmacy on 8841 Six Forks Rd. in Raleigh refusing to sell it?

A Decision for Women, Not Pharmacists

Plan B® is birth control, and the decision of whether to get pregnant is one that should be made by a woman not by other people who want to impose their beliefs on her. And because time is of the essence in increasing Plan B’s® effectiveness, the 8841 Six Forks Rd Rite Aid’s refusal to sell it is more than an inconvenience for some it can actually limit our choices.

Facts About Emergency Contraception

Emergency contraception (EC) is sold under the brand name Plan B®.

EC is simply a concentrated dose of ordinary birth-control pills that can reduce the risk of unintended pregnancy if taken soon after sex.

EC is not the abortion pill, RU-486; it cannot harm or terminate an already-established pregnancy.

EC can be taken within a few days after sex; however, the medication is more effective the earlier it is taken.
