40% of NC pharmacies do not stock Plan B

Modified: 11/28/2007

Check out our new study on Access to Plan B in NC Pharmacies.  Some startling findings from this new report are that 40% of pharmacies do not stock Plan B, and of those, 30% refused to order it

The bottom line is that women in NC need better access to emergency contraception (EC, also known by the brand name Plan B), whether it is at the pharmacy or, in the case of sexual assault victims, local hospitals. North Carolina lawmakers need to support the Compassionate Care for Sexual Assault Victims Act introduced this session to ensure that if a woman is raped, she will be offered EC at her hospital or urgent care facility, especially since her pharmacy may not have it!

Please write a letter to the editor to your local paper today on the importance of Compassionate Care legislation in light of this new study.
